What is Somatic Healing?
If you’ve stumbled upon my little corner of the internet here, I imagine you had been researching something along the lines of
Why do I always feel so behind?
How can I make time move slower?
How can I feel in control of my life again?
Or maybe you had searched “What is Somatic Healing” …but you may as well have searched any of the above.
Your body knows how to heal
Somatic healing is a trauma and chronic stress healing modality that is gentle and supportive to our nervous system so we can gain monumental results.
I was once exactly where you are. I spent a large part of my life feeling disconnected from my needs, power and my own voice. Feeling stuck and unable to move forward to find the life that I knew was waiting for me. I’ve tried a multitude of ways to heal and was always met with beautiful glimmers of regulation… sometimes it just felt so fleeting.
Then, I discovered somatic healing, embodiment and brain retraining. I learned that science tell us that our body has the innate ability to heal. With gentle guidance, each person can find their own answers inside of their own bodies. We can begin to recognize that our emotions, anxiety and stress responses are all signals from our bodies, guiding us to what we need.
These powerful modalities created such synergy in my nervous system that I finally noticed powerful and sustained change. It felt like a miracle to me and I know that it can for you too. I soon found purpose, peace and JOY! I long to be a beacon of hope for you, inspiring you to take back your power and once again be aligned with the life that you are seeking.
I believe that somatic healing is listening to the wisdom of our bodies, to be able to understand the needs being communicated through emotions and the meaning we give to those emotions. Somatic healing allows us to recognize the needs of our system when we are in-tune.
How does Somatic Healing work?
At this point, you may be thinking, “how heck does this work?” or “this sounds a little woo-woo… but I’m listening.” Believe it or not, somatic healing modalities are backed by neuroscience and the science behind happiness, healing, joy and emotional wellness.
By incorporating a multitude of techniques such as mindfulness, breathwork, movement, and even touch, we try to bring attention to bodily sensations, encouraging your mind to reconnect with your body. This reconnection allows you to become more aware of your physical and emotional states, helping you to recognize and release negative or harmful feelings. Through these practices, somatics can help you uncover a way of living that is more enjoyable, allowing the highs and lows of life to flow with more ease.
